The truck on the left is a Leyland Hippo. It had just returned from a trip
to
Kent with some sheep.
The Hippo had a top speed of 30 mph. The trip
(undertaken by Willie McKenzie and Edward Rapson) took 36 hours. The sheep
would have been quicker walking.

Two stalwarts - Edward Rapson (right) and Jim Gill (left). Edward ran
Rapson & Sons (with his brother Ian) from the premises now occupied by
Timespan. Jim owned the Belgrave during the 70's. They are pictured at the
door to the shop (now Timespan). Both are now sadly dead. Edward Rapson only
passed away on 4 May 2002.
