The Mackay Family of Helmsdale

I was surfing the internet and stumbled across the Helmsdale community website. My Grandfather was from Helmsdale. Unfortunately he died last year. I believe his picture to be on your website with his sister Jessie. His name was John George Mackay but was known as Jackie. My Father Donald Mackay.

I thought I would let you all up there in Helmsdale know that the Mackay family of 4 Golf Road has a healthy off shoot down here in Surrey, England. Living in England as Englishmen but proud Mackay's nonetheless.

My Father Donald, (Jackie's only son) has two Sons. Me, Stewart Mark Mackay I'm 29 Married to my wife Anna and have a six month old boy called Jack Mackay (we call him Jackie) and my younger Brother, Robert Donald Mackay who is 28 and unmarried so far (not for the want of trying)

It is quiet strange to feel an affinity to a place I have never been but I must say I do hold Helmsdale quiet dear to my heart. Something like a Homeland. My grandfather drummed this into Dad and Dad has drummed into me.
