The Cowie Family
I have recently visited the Helmsdale website and had printed off some school photos for my dad.
He is George Cowie, son of Hugh and Cherrie Cowie, Brother of Moira, Margaret (Peggy), Billy, Brenda, Esther and Kathleen.
My dad was really amazed to see the photos of his old school mates, see senior photo 1958, back row! He has given me the only old photos he has to email to you, his sisters may have some more! He has visited Helmsdale from time to time and is very fond of the village. He has given me some photos of his visit about 5 years ago to include in the email.
He told me that he used to live in the building that is now the golf club, with his parents, in the late 1940s (see photo of him and my mum Rena (from Dundee) standing outside golf club).

They then moved to 7 sutherland street, where the rest of the family were born, then they moved to 22 Golf road. He went to Helmsdale school then Golspie Tech and then he worked in the butchers

Then in 1962 they left to live in Glenrothes Fife. He said his mum worked in the ice-house in the 1940s and his dad was on the fishing boats.
