Helmsdale and District's new Community Developement group
A meeing to establish the need for the formation of the Helmsdale and District's new Community Developement group was held in Timespan on Wednesday 10th February 2010. This was very well attended with good representation from most of the key committies concerned.
The representatives from H.I.E., explained throughly the benefits of how their offer of a paid liason officer, over the next three years could help to improve the future economical, social and environmental needs of the village and outlying districts of the community.
They hoped that the various committies would take full advantage of these proposals The officer would be able to advise the various committies on the viability and effectiveness of chosen solutions, in consultation with core funding bodies and also advise on the best presentation for attracting maximim recognicition in available grant- aidable situations
These 3 three targets would be the main springboard for launching a series of projects which would secure further stability for the long term future of Helmsdale's fragile economy and infrastructure. Major areas for consideration would include Environmental Improvements,Tourism, Services, Economical Improvements and Ammenities
It was proposed that a steering group be set up to make decisions on which projects should be considered most important. Priority would be given to those thought to be of major benefit to the community and having the best chance of success. Practical arrangements for accommodating the liason officer would be decided at this point. Office space would be sought and the representatives from H.I.E.agreed that a small renumeration could be made to cover the costs of the organisation who provided desk space and facilities.
The next meeting was set for 7.00pm on Wednesday 17th February 2010 in Timespan..
Any committee's who would like a proposal or plan to be considered or included are invited to send a representative to attend this meeting with the objective of drawing up a final list of potential projects, for submission to a further consultative meeting with H.I.E.representatives on Wednesday 24th February, 2010, at 7.pm. also in Timespan.
Thanks Lorna
