The Bridge Hotel: Accommodation

The Bridge Hotel rests by the banks of the famous Helmsdale River, positioned at the head of the old Helmsdale River Bridge. Served by two airports – Inverness and Wick – it is conveniently situated on the main axis between Inverness, Thurso and John o’Groats, offering a perfect base for exploring the wonders of the Highlands. Built circa 1816 as a traveler’s inn (Ross’s Commercial Inn), this 200 year old building has been transformed by its present owner, Conservationist Christian Gross, into a vibrant, warm and friendly 21st century country hotel with 17 en-suite bedrooms all furnished to a high standard.

The Bridge Hotel restaurant – The Green Stag

Run by the former Channel 4 newsreader and BBC Tomorrow’s World Presenter Shahnaz Pakravan, the hotel has one Suite with its own lounge, one single room, 9 twins, 2 doubles, 2 superior doubles, 2 family rooms and one fully equipped Special needs room on the ground floor. There are no televisions or telephones in the rooms but guests can relax and watch TV on a wide screen in the Resident’s lounge. Despite the extensive modernization, the hotel retains much of its original charm including the woodwork and paneling that glow with the warmth of open log fires. There is an informal Lounge Bar for drinks and light bar meals, a fine dining restaurant - The Green Stag - that serves fresh seafood and game, there is a garden for drinks and light meals and there is ample on-site parking in the rear of the hotel.
